Aloha,
First, I would like to thank you for visiting my site. I'm pleased to show others the incredible sites i've seen on Kauai.
I've called Kauai my home for almost 22 years now. Moving from
New Mexico in the late 80's, I fell in love and stayed.
I made a decision to change my life and do something more adventurous, And that I did! I went to work immediately
for a tour boat company in a twin engine zodiac raft along the famous Na Pali coast! Wow!
What a job! I estimated doing between eight hundred to a thousand trips down that remote coast. Sometimes three trips a day!
Several times while motoring along the Na Pali I'd catch
myself wondering what this area must have been like during ancient
times. Each of the valleys along the coast has a story to tell and each had a special
use for the Hawaiian people. I'd gaze up at the cliffs and imagine what it must have been like back then.
On my days off I researched Kauai. I wanted to get the facts as well as the legends of this island. Well before western civilization arrived. It must have been amazing! Hawaiian people didn't believe in land ownership. They shared and traded with each other.
I found the Na Pali coast to be especially intriguing. I paid visits to local museums, public librarys, and even the Bishop
Museum on Oahu. I would also hike as much as possible, trying to safely reach some of the places I'd only read about or seen by boat.

In some of my travels, I've discovered breathtaking vistas, lots of hidden waterfalls, and even some wildlife along the way. I'm always working on exploring more and more remote places. This is where my original passion comes in. To explore! To go places most never see. I believe most of us have that same sense of adventure, it's just that we don't give ourselves the chance (or the excuse) to really go for it.
With Kauai there is a very large diversity in landscape and this can make it very unique to explore and photograph. On one side the island it's dry and airy. Cactus can be seen in some places and rainfall can be as little as 12" a year. Then just 4-5 miles away (as the crow flies) is Waialeale. The wettest spot on earth recieving 450 inches a year!
Before moving to Kauai, I remember spending many days and weeks as a young boy and teen hiking the back country of New Mexico and Colorado. My parents introduced me to camping early in life and would take the family on long camp trips.I was a boyscout and became fasinated with survival and edible plants. I also learned the importance of being prepared. You don't always get a second chance out there.

I end this with a final mention that I am a proud father of three beautiful girls who have grown to be awesome young women. We now enjoy two grandaughters and a grandson on the way. My wife is a huge inspiration for me and is my biggest critic.
"I hope you enjoy my photos as
much as I do taking them".
