The Na Pali coast is located along the northwest shores of Kauai. Na Pali meaning "many cliffs" is considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world! These cliffs drop approximately 4000 feet to sea level in an average of two miles. It was considered a safe haven for the Hawaiian people in the fact that no one could attack from behind and it was easy to defend against attacks along the ocean. Just throw a few rocks and that would discourage anyone from attacking. Each valley had a natural flow of water from Alakai swamp allowing cultivation year round.
